Ayurveda
- Ayurveda means “science of life”. It is one of the oldest systems of Indian medicine, practiced for more than 5,000 years.
- According to Ayurvedic science, the body is comprised of five basic elements, air, water, fire, space and earth. It believes that an imbalance in these five elements is responsible for any disease state. Ayurveda treatment is aimed at balancing these elements through the dietary and life style changes, yoga, meditation, and massage with healing oils, and herbs etc. Ayurvedic treatment generally takes longer to show the result while treating certain chronic disease. However, the acute disease conditions are benefited immediately.
- Ayurveda is considered to be safe because there is less of a risk of harmful side effects as only natural therapies are used for the treatment.
- Ayurveda is an alternative system of medicine providing treatment for almost all physiological and psychological diseased conditions. It is a safe, natural, inexpensive and highly efficient system of medicine to restore and maintain health and happiness of the mind and body
- In India, Kerala state is highly popular for its number of ayurvedic centers. These treatment centers are officially supported health care system by the state government. The other most common destinations include Sri Lanka and Thailand
