Similar to the concept of medication management, where the correct medication goes to the right patient, healthcare professionals need to guarantee accuracy of the medical procedure too. Too often, wrong-site, wrong-procedure and wrong-surgeries occur for patients which can be detrimental to their health.
The organization needs to have a sound chain of command where orders can be passed on and carried out effectively. It is important to communicate with as many of the healthcare professionals as possible so they recognize that it is you that they need to be performing surgery on.
