Medical Tourism in Cuba
The concept of medical tourism is not unfamiliar to Cuba, the country being the prime healthcare destination for over 40 years. With the reputation of Cuban healthcare providers combined with an unrivaled vacation—the package was too difficult to ignore for many individuals traveling from South America and Europe.
With costs being more than 60-80 per cent less than average prices in the US, Cuba is making major splashes in medical tourism industry. The main island of Cuba brought in over 20,000 healthcare-seeking travelers in 2006 and the numb
ers of medical tourists keep increasing.
