Healthcare in El Salvador

Healthcare System in El Salvador

The healthcare in El Salvador operates on a two-tiered system. The first layer is the public-run healthcare sector that delivers and manages the healthcare for the unfortunates who can’t afford. In this sector, the physicians are overburdened by the level of sick patients and can’t offer individuals the personalized care they desire.

Through modernization of the region, the second system has escalated into private based. In this sector, physicians provide individual care as the patients pay on their own for their services. This sector is only applicable for the well-off residents and the foreign paying patients.

Quality of Healthcare in El Salvador

Most of the individuals are surprised to find how superior the quality of healthcare can be in this region. Medical tourists are treated by well trained, experienced world class physicians providing individual care. Patients can be relieved by the lack of cultural and lingual barriers as most of the physicians catering to medical tourists did their training in the US, North America.

The travelers are also astounded seeing how modern and well-maintained healthcare facilities are in this country. Presently, El Salvador lacks official accreditation by a renowned organization (such as JCI). El Salvador needs to demonstrate the ability to maintain quality standards through international accreditation even though the region has high quality centers to further compete with its Central American counterparts (like Costa Rica).
